I was getting the itch to record again today, so I did a version of Sequoyah Prep School’s “Old #4.” It’s a beautiful song that I think sounds really good stripped down to just guitar and vocals.

I hope that you like it.

I’m fairly close to finishing The Garageband Sessions. At this point, I should have the finished product available within the next week. In the meantime, here’s the likely track list. Note: This list could change, and I have yet to decide on the order:

    A Truly Epic Announcement

Since the beginning, this blog has served as a platform for me to distribute songs I’ve recorded. The comments I’ve received from people have been great; they’ve served as great encouragement to keep recording and to keep improving my technique. At this point, I’ve done over thirty songs, and, as I go back and listen to them, I hear tremendous improvement.

Some of them haven’t turned out so well. Some have merely been okay. But a few of them turned out, in my opinion, really really well. So I’ve decided to pull together a few of my favorites as a zip file and make it available for free download. If you are a regular reader of the blog, you’ve probably heard most of the songs I’m including in the collection. I have, however, re-mixed some of the older ones. I’ve also recorded a few songs recently that I haven’t put up here — you’ll have to download the collection to hear them.

I’m calling the whole project … The Garageband Sessions.

You can expect more details soon, but, in the meantime, here’s the album cover:

I thought that it would be fun to try something a little different, and, as of late I’ve been on a Flogging Molly kick lately … so, here it is: “Drunken Lullabies.” Raise your pint of Guinness and enjoy.

I made a go at The Format’s “She Doesn’t Get It” a long time ago. I may have even posted it here (though I hope that I didn’t, since it pretty much sucked). Inspiration struck today, so I re-recorded everything. I’m really happy with how it turned out, especially the opening/recurring riff. Also, for the first time in awhile, I completely eschewed additional vocal tracks.

I hope that you like it.

EDIT #2: I still wasn’t happy with the overall EQ, so I modified it again. Better? Maybe?

My take on Foo Fighters’ “Everlong.”

I started off by doing a legit, by-the-book version of this song. But something didn’t feel right. Try as I could, I just couldn’t bring myself to post that version. Enjoy this one and, don’t forget …

    Hug that special someone gently.

Another song for your weekend. I took on Reel Big Fish’s “Sell Out” this time and had a blast while doing it.

Here it is: Another Sequoyah Prep School cover. This time, it’s “Way Back Home.”

I think that this is the best thing I’ve ever recorded. Let me know what you think.

Here’s another Sequoyah Prep School tune: “Holy City.”

The New Amsterdams’ “Spoils of the Spoiled,” which is, without a doubt, one of my favorite songs of all time.

    Enjoy.
